Subject :- In the context of unfair and exorbitant selling price marking (MRP) on medicines.
Sir,
I want to bring to your notice a very important issue. Many welfare schemes are being successfully run by the Indian government in the healthcare sector of the country. But most of the allopathic medicines manufacturers are cheating the people due to very low control on MRP.
For example, A medicine named MEROPENEM 1 GM INJECTION. Its MRP is RS. 2450.00 TO RS. 2979.00 but it’s wholesale price is Rs. 185.00 TO 202.00 only. All the Oncology medicines are printed 10 to 20 times more than their wholesale prices. Surgical products manufacturers are doing the same .One i.v. drip set it’s MRP is Rs.162.00 but wholesale price is Rs. 10.00
There are more than 1000 examples I have ! Since the tax is received by the government only on the wholesale price, it is also tax evasion. The country's GDP rate is also calculated on the value of production , which is very low.
Therefore, it is a humble request to the sir that proper consideration should be given to this matter.
